Originair’s per person checked baggage allowance is 15kgs. As each flight is different, the total payload (combined weight of passengers and baggage) we can take may be limited. Our Flight Operations team will advise if there are any restrictions for your particular flight.
As a general rule, adhering to the following baggage guidelines will assist our staff in providing a smooth and efficient experience.
In order to comply with aviation regulations, we need to ensure the aisles and rows are kept clear and unobstructed in case of emergencies, as well as ensuring loose items such as carry-on bags are stowed securely. All carry-on bags must be able to be placed under the seats.
Generally items such as small laptop bags, small backpacks and handbags limited to approx. 7kg will fit under the seats.
Travelling with a larger carry-on item? This is often not a problem, but please let your check-in agent know as you check in for the flight. In some cases accommodating a larger carry-on item may incur an extra fee.
Please limit the weight of each piece of checked baggage to 15kg so it’s easier for our crews to handle. Heavier items and/or bulky equipment such as toolboxes, specialised equipment, and sporting items may be accommodated in our aircraft by prior arrangement. Please let our Flight Operations team know at the time of booking or arrive a bit earlier for your flight and advise your check-in staff to ensure these items are loaded as quickly and safely as possible. Please refer to your e-ticket for baggage allowance and additional baggage charges.
Children (2 to 12 years) are entitled to the standard baggage allowance of one piece of baggage weighing up to 15kgs per person, plus one carry-on bag weighing up to 7kg.
Infants (7 days to 23 months) are entitled to one nursery bag weighing up to 7kgs to be carried as hand luggage.
Car seats, booster seats (1 per infant/child) and manual wheelchairs are exempt items from the baggage allowance, and can be carried in addition to the free baggage allowance at no cost.
Please note that while we can offer wheelchair assistance to and from the aircraft, passengers must be able to navigate the aircraft stairs.
Civil Aviation Regulations place restrictions on some personal items that, when transported by air, can put people’s health, safety or property at risk – commonly referred to as Dangerous Goods.
Examples of items that are either prohibited or may be carried under certain restrictions are;
