Originair has its roots in more than 30 years of professional passenger airline operation.
In 1979, Robert Inglis started Air Nelson which was bought by Air New Zealand and continues today as Air New Zealand Link. Robert and partner Nicki Smith went on to start Origin Pacific Airways which became a favourite airline for regional customers with keen pricing, convenient schedules, reliability and a 100 per cent safety record.
Robert has continued his passionate involvement in airline service through Inglis Aircraft Ltd, leasing an aircraft to Life Flight Trust.
With the end of the previous Palmerston North-Nelson service, Robert and Nicki have taken the opportunity to develop their existing operation. Originair is a dedicated, professional passenger operation, directly linking the centres with a customer-driven schedule.
Originair is New Zealand owned and operated, providing point-to-point travel within New Zealand. We offer services initially to and from Nelson and Palmerston North. We also offer charter services on demand.
Originairs fleet include British Aerospace Jetstream 31 and 32 aircraft which are operated for Originair by Air2there.com

The aircraft have a pressurised cabin, twin turbo prop engines and are flown by two pilots. With about 500 Jetstream’s flying worldwide, these British Aerospace aircraft are renowned in many countries for their comfort and reliability; purpose built for economical regional services.
