Originair is operating scheduled passenger flights across New Zealand right now. This blog post sets out exactly which routes we are flying and what is changing over the coming weeks.
 
Is Originair Still Operating? 


Yes. Originair is a fully operational New Zealand regional airline based in Nelson. We are actively flying passengers on multiple routes across the North and South Island as of May 2026. We are not suspended, not closed, and not winding down. 
 
Originair's Current Routes (as of 13 May 2026) 


Nelson – Palmerston North A direct 40-minute flight between Nelson Airport (NSN) and Palmerston North Airport (PMR). Originair is the only airline offering a direct service on this route.  


Nelson – Wellington A direct service between Nelson Airport (NSN) and Wellington Airport (WLG).  


Blenheim – Christchurch A direct service between Marlborough Airport, Blenheim (BHE) and Christchurch Airport (CHC).  


Blenheim – Palmerston North A direct service between Marlborough Airport, Blenheim (BHE) and Palmerston North Airport (PMR). 
 
Upcoming Route: Wellington – Westport 


Originair will begin flying between Wellington (WLG) and Westport (WSZ) on 18 May 2026. This service runs through to 12 June 2026. This route is particularly important for the Westport community, providing a direct air link to the capital. Westport is a small West Coast town with limited transport connections, and this service restores a vital link for residents, businesses, and visitors to the region. This route is running for one month due to the support of Development West Coast. If you are travelling to or from Westport, this is the only direct scheduled air service available on this route.
