Originair is delighted to announce new services that will strengthen Marlborough’s regional connections, keeping communities, businesses, and families connected.

Blenheim–Christchurch Direct Flights

From Sunday 19 October 2025, Originair will commence direct flights between Blenheim and Christchurch, ensuring Marlborough retains its vital link with the South Island’s largest city.

Services will be operated by Originair’s 18-seat British Aerospace Jetstream 32 aircraft, crewed by two pilots. The schedule offers:

  • Morning and afternoon departures Tuesday to Thursday
  • A morning service on Mondays and an afternoon service on Fridays and Sunday

This timetable is designed to give travellers around seven hours in Christchurch — ideal for those attending specialist medical appointments, business meetings, or simply making the most of a full day in the city.

 

Christchurch Airport Chief Executive Justin Watson welcomed the new route, saying:

“Enabling regional routes are vital to Christchurch’s role as the South Island hub, connecting communities and supporting economic activity across the region. We’re looking forward to seeing the white and yellow Jetstreams become a regular feature of our whānau.”


Blenheim–Palmerston North Direct Flights

At the same time, Originair will introduce new direct flights between Blenheim and Palmerston North on Mondays and Fridays. These services provide convenient connections for both business travellers and those planning weekend getaways.

Originair already operates Nelson–Palmerston North flights, which have been well supported for many years, and the airline is excited to extend this connectivity to Marlborough.
